supermodel* is the brainchild of frankie beanie, a virginia-born, los angeles-based artist and producer, whose music is the culmination of a world of influences: a love of hip-hop, an obsession with the Beastie Boys, and an instinctive feel for raw, playful experimentation. At its core, supermodel* is about instinct, irreverence, and breaking his own rules. “don’t try and be cool. steal everything. don’t overthink. always lowercase,” he says of the project’s ethos. Since his debut, supermodel* has carved out a distinct identity with a run of genre-blurring singles and striking, reference-rich visuals. from the hypnotic, dance-inflected “i used to live in england”, to the warped, confident swagger of “no future,” where beastie boys-inspired production collides with diy visual craft influenced by jamiroquai’s “virtual insanity,” each release has revealed a new facet of his vision.
