The first day of the festival has literally combined rock legends, like Foo Fighters, Kim Gordon and Tom Morello with contemporary top artists, such as Måneskin. Dave Grohl dedicated one of the songs to Tom Morello, who got to play his guitar solo with Måneskin, during „Gossip”.
„We’ve finally made it”, exclaimed Dua Lipa, Thursday’a headliner, when remembering the „apocalyptic clouds”, which led to the festival’s evacuation and the cancelation of her performance in 2022. Keeping her word to come back, she gave the fans a stunning, perfectly crafted show, proving to be worthy of global superstardom.
Similar descritption fits Doja Cat, who performed at Open’er on Friday. Her phenomenal performance drew the attention of a huge crowd of fans, who followed her every move. And shortly after her show, they got to see Sam Smith - another one of the best concets of this edition.
On Staurday we witnessed a moving set from Hozier, who perfectly balanced between on-stage energy, intimacy and pure fun. From time to time stopping to have a chat with the audience, he reminded them of important issues, such as protesting, when you disagree with the world.
Open'er 2024 was a space for the biggest stars, as well as alternative gems and bands, who made the history of music. On Friday, Air played its iconic album „Moon Safari”. Earlier we experienced the shoegaze legends from Slowdive, and on Thursday Michael Kiwanuka gave us a whole spectrum of emotions. Tent Stage became a huge rave with Charli XCX, Disclosure took us dancing, and Skkrillex showed he’s the king in his category, delivering a powerful set. This year’s line-up also included big names in hip-hop, with Gunna, Don Toliver, Ice Spice and 21 Savage all performing on Orange Main Stage.
Open’er 2024 also came with new features, like Flow Stage, Glamping, cooperation with Music Saves Ukraine – a charity organization collecting funds for those, who need it the most in Ukraine. Art at Open’er made a comeback in its full form providing the festival goers with a chance to see „The Employees”, a recent phenomena in modern European theatre, and „Repeat After Me” – one of two pieces presented in the Polish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
Last but not least, Let’s Talk, the festival’s zone for discussions on important, engaing topics focused on women issues, problems and rights, as well as different visions for cities of the future. It also featured a special event, just before the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising – a meeting with the heroes, who fought for our freedom.
We thank our main sponsor – Orange, the sponsors – Heineken and Rossmann. We also thank our partners, the city of Gdynia, Kosakowo, its’ residents, authorities and law enforcement services for cooperation at this year’s Open’er. And finally, a special „Thank You” to over 9 thousand people working at the festival.
