Kendrick Lamar, FKA twigs, Martin Garrix, Michael Kiwanuka, Foals, Big Thief & schafter at Open'er Festival 2020!

The most influential artist in the hip-hop world, thirteen time Grammy winner, master of music and culture - Kendrick Lamar is the next headliner of Open'er Festival powered by Orange. FKA twigs, Martin Garrix, Michael Kiwanuka, Foals, Big Thief and schafter will also join the line-up.

KENDRICK LAMAR

The past decade has been an almost continuous success story of Kendrick Lamar. His albums are excellent examples of combining artistic quality with commercial success, cooperation with other artists and maintaining a fully individual style, modesty and at the same time sense of his own worth and power of his voice.

He released his first mixtapes as a teenager, and his debut album Section.80 was released in 2011. The next album Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City turned out to be a breakthrough both in his career and the entire genre. In 2015, on To Pimp A Butterfly his message gained even more strength. In 2017, he released the fourth album DAMN., which like the previous one debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard.

Kendrick can be heard not only on his excellent albums, he also features such artist as A$AP ROCKY, Travis Scott, Schoolboy Q, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons or Dido. Last year he released soundtrack for Black Panther and the song “All The Stars” (ft. SZA) has received numerous nominations including Golden Globes, Oscars and Grammy Awards.

MARTIN GARRIX

Martin Garrix achieved his first spectacular success at the age of 17 with a single "Animals". Within a few weeks, the record made a Dutch DJ a global star, and the video for the song has now been viewed over 1.3 billion times. However, counted in hundreds of millions of streams and the first places on the charts sealed his status as an EDM icon. His live sets explain the strength of his success – youth, music, unpretentiousness, contact with the audience and an unreliable visual show. Last year, the BYLAW EP was released, which hit the TOP 20 Best Dance Dlbums in the US with single series including “Summer Days” featured by Macklemore and Patrick Stump. Martin Garrix will perform at Open’er Festival on July 3.

FKA TWIGS

The British artist is one of the most original representatives of alternative pop of the decade. Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known as FKA twigs, debuted in the years 2012-2013 with the releases EP1 and EP2, and her debut album LP1 released in 2014. Since then, she has remained an extremely colorful artist, combining avant-pop elements with electronics and soul. Her additional skills certainly helped to develop her career - from the very beginning FKA twigs has evolved as a dancer, model and director (she is responsible for most of her videos). Magdalene, released this year, has received great reviews and Pitchfork awarded it the distinction of "Best New Music" (“Magdalene is not just on the vanguard of pop, it’s in a breathtaking class of its own”) FKA twigs will perform at Open'er Festival on July 4.

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

Since 2012 and the debut album Home Again Michael Kiwanuka began to be one of the most important artist of British indie rock and folk. In 2016 he released Love & Hate and HBO miniseries Big Little Lies picked up that album’s “Cold Little Heart” as its theme song, which contributed to the growth of his career. When creating the latest album simply entitled Kiwanuka, he finally felt himself. ‘When I first signed a record deal, people would ask me, ‘So what are you going to be called?’. And I never thought of that; calling myself Johnny Thunders or whatever, like singers from the past. So, on this album it’s kind of a defiant thing; I’m engaging with who I am and I’m not going to have an alter ego, or become Sasha Fierce or Ziggy Stardust, even though everyone's telling me I need to be this, that or the other. I can just be Michael Kiwanuka’ he said. Michael Kiwanuka will perform at Open’er Festival on July 3.

FOALS

This year, Foals fans have been treated with the most ambitious project in this British band’s career – two-part album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost, which received great reviews and turned out to be their biggest commercial success. The first part was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize and won the Q Award for Best Album.
The group led by Yannis Philippakis was formed in 2005, and their debut album Antidotes was released 3 years later. The next albums Total Life Forever (2010), Holy Fire (2013) and What Went Down (2015) only strengthened their position at the forefront of the alternative music world. Foals are also considered as one of the best contemporary British concert bands. The group will perform at Open'er Festival on July 4.

BIG THIEF

Band formed in 2015 is considered as a hope of American alternative music. This year the group has released two albums - U.F.O.F. and Two Hands, which only strengthened their status. Their songs often show emotional courage, creating an intimate bond with listeners, which has made Big Thief one of the most respected alternative bands of recent years. Big Thief will perform at the Alter Stage on July 2.
