Massive Attack 2018 will be full of important anniversaries for Massive Attack. The band was established in Bristol by 3D, Daddy G and Mushroom will celebrate its 30th anniversary. These three decades were a time of a tri-hop great triumph, breakthrough albums, great popularity and responsibility that band members understand as getting involved in socio-political issues, without pretending that the artist has no right to his own opinions or that he should be neutral. Music as a comment for reality, a concert as a happening – this is what they taught us throughout the years, making their listeners sensitive to the most important issues. Massive Attack is the band which created trip-hop. “Blue Lines”, their debut from 1991 is a complete album, matchless in its category. “ Protection” from 1994 still remains a trip-hop essence with accents of jazz and chill out. Their second album “Mezzanine” was released in 1998. There are many reasons to hear the most important songs from their repertoire at Open’er. There’s also a chance that we’ll hear something brand new from Massive Attack. We got the taste of possible directions in 2016 on „Ritual Spirit” EP. For the first time since 1994 it was possible to hear Tricky in Massive Attack songs. |

Fleet Foxes Fleet Foxes are back with their third album. “Crack-Up” was released 6 years after the release of “Helplessness Blues” from 2011 and almost a decade after their breakthrough debut from 2008. Their first album was proposing something different than all other artists from that times. Peaceful compositions based on traditional American folk music have brought Fleet Foxes countless top spots in music summaries, made by such influential portals as for instance Pitchfork and Mojo. “Fleet Foxes” was certified gold in the USA, Great Britain or Australia. For Sub Pop – the label releasing the band’s albums, it was one of the greatest successes in their its history. Their second album “Helplessness Blues” was well received by critics, audience but also by the industry, which resulted in nomination for Grammy in Folk category. Their long awaited, brand new album “Crack-Up” was released at the beginning of Summer 2017. We still need to wait to hear Fleet Foxes performing live during Open’er 2018. |

Brian Eno was his most famous music companion, they recorded two albums together – “My Life in The Bush od Ghost” from 1981 and “Everything That Happens Will Happen Today” from 2008. Byrne also found common language with St.Vincent which effected in “Love This Giant”. His voice may be also known by the electronic fans from the house anthem “Lazy” from the X-Press 2 duet. Kaleo Iceland has a great year! Their football team qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Kaleo was nominated for Grammy Award! It’s another success in the history of Islandic music, which should not be judged in the context of the queen Björk and Sigur Ròs. The band was established in Mosfellsbær in 2012 and just from the start it performed at very important event in Reykjavík - Iceland Airwaves. Their music is a combination of rock, folk and blues. In 2014 the song “All the Pretty Girls” was streamed almost 90 million times on Spotify. In 2015 after signing a record contract, Kaleo moved to the United States, to the sunny Austin in Texas. There their career blossomed. In the Summer, they released a single “Way Down We Go”, which became an international hit, used in games, TV series and ads. The song also announced the album “A/B” released in 2016, which was sold in almost million copies around the world. The album’s opening song “No Good” brought the band a nomination for Grammy for “Best Rock Performance”. On January 28, Kaleo may come up on the Madison Square Garden stage to accept the statuette, and we’re waiting patiently for the July 6 at Open’er. |

Sevdaliza Sevdaliza is a singer, lyricist, director and a composer born in Tehran, but living in Netherlands. Her deep, sensual voice floats above the trip hop dubs. Sevdaliza gets her inspirations from different genres: electronic, punk, trip hop, grime and avant-garde, while her lyrics are influenced by the greatest artists and are quite philosophical; they’re about the genders diversification and the perception of emotions. Sevdaliza creates worlds where anything is possible. She released her EP by herself, “The Suspended Kid” as well as its continuation “Children of Silk". Both well received by journalists and her fans. Her first album “ISON” was released in April. Its sound was compared to the albums from FKA Twigs and Kelela, which is a slight simplification, as some people compared “ISON” to the Radiohead’s or Beyonce’s accomplishments. So what’s it like? Decide yourself after seeing Sevdaliza’s performance at open’er 2018. |
