First Alter Stage announcement for Open'er 2021!

Masters of alternative, the hope of British indie and one of the most interesting new rap girls - BadBadNotGood, Destroyer, Porridge Radio and Flohio have joined the Open'er Festival 2021 powered by Orange.

BADBADNOTGOOD

The Canadian formation get attention as early as April 2011, when they posted instrumental jazz-hip-hop interpretations of songs by the "Odd Future" collective on the web. Their records was quickly picked up by Tyler, The Creator, which soon resulted in a live recording of the song "Seven" from the rapper's debut mixtape. In 2011 we received the first album of the band "BBNG", and a few months later they presented its "BBNG2". As in the case of the debut, on the second album, the original compositions of BadBadNotGood were mixed with covers of artists from whom they drew inspiration (including Kanye West, Nas, James Blake, Flying Lotus, Feist or Joy Division). When "III" was released in 2014, their first album filled only with original material, they already had a residency at Coachella and a series of live releases behind them. Subsequent performances in Canada, Europe and the USA strengthened their position as a great concert band. In 2015, BadBadNotGood joined forces with Ghostface Killah, the legend of Wu-Tang Clanu, recording a joint album "Sour Soul", and the following year we get a very well-received album "IV", which featured Charlotte Day-Wilson, Kaytranada and Sam Herring from Future Islands. The band will play on July 1 at Alter Stage.

DESTROYER

Destroyer, another representative of the Canadian alternative scene, is an unpredictable band. The 25-year-old project lead by Dan Bejar (also known from The New Pornographers for years) has already surprised several times with musical experiments. Destroyer has moved from sounding like a demo recorded in the basement on out-of-tune guitars ("We'll Build Them a Golden Bridge" [1996]), to musical development on "City of Daughters" (1998), "Thief" (2000) and " Streethawk: A Seduction "(2001), a perverse stylistic change to" This Night "(2002), playing with MIDI sounds on" Your Blues "(2004) and a series of stable, very good releases of recent years, up to the latest, twelfth album" Have We Met "(2020). "On his new master album, Dan Bejar moves like a ghost through his familiar mysterious world," wrote Pitchfork magazine, calling the band Best New Music. Mojo praised "Have We Met", writing about "a very innovative version of British art-pop of the 1980s". Destroyer will perform at Alter Stage on July 1.

PORRIDGE RADIO

Porridge Radio was founded in 2015 in Brighton and with each subsequent year they gained more and more recognition and attention of fans of independent, alternative music. In 2018, The Guardian placed them in the Top 40 Newcomers ranking, paying special attention to the talent of the band leader: "Magnetizing Dana Margolin, combines the romance of Wolf Alice with (...) the dark, sleepy energy of PJ Harvey or Mark Lanegan." The emotionally charged songs "Lilac" (2019) and "Sweet" (2020) left no doubt that Porridge Radio will be a very important point of the musical alternative in the coming months. In January, they were on the NME 100 list for 2020. However, their newest album "Every Bad" received the Best New Music status from Pitchfork. We will see the strength of their live performances on July 1 at Alter Stage.
