06/28 Radiohead

We are very proud to announce that Radiohead are the first headlining act of Open’er Festival 2017. The band will play the 16th festival edition in Gdynia, Poland on Wednesday, June 28th 2017!

With no doubt Radiohead is one of the most important contemporary music groups and with all certainty the most influential. The band was formed in 1985 in Abingdon, less than 20 kilometres from Oxford and it is still associated with the city. From the beginning the band consists of Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, Philip Selway and Thom Yorke.

Radiohead have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, but in their case commercial success is not the most important. All of their albums – the band has 9 of them in its official discography – are known as “separate voices” in the music industry. “OK Computer” from 1997 and “Kid A” released 3 years later are ranked as one of their most important works.

Both albums have not only become milestones in the band’s discography but have also defined modern music while being a combination of alternative rock, electronica, jazz, krautrock and avant-garde. Both “OK Computer” and “Kid A” were placed at the top of music rankings, not only in their respective years but also named the best albums of entire decades.

Another very important movement started by the band was redefinition of the release process. Radiohead released their seventh studio album “In Rainbows” with barely any promotion. Each fan decided what amount of money they wanted to pay for the album.

Radiohead’s latest album was released on May 8 this year. ”A Moon Shaped Pool” was anticipated for at least two years and its premiere was preceded by two singles: “Burn the Witch” and “Daydreaming”. The accompanying tour promoting the album consisted of only 26 concerts worldwide. Today it was made clear that Radiohead are playing also next year and we can now confirm the gig at Open’er Festival on Wednesday, June 28th 2017!
