Abortion remains legal in the United States but anti-abortion efforts have succeeded in making it virtually inaccessible in some places and in the Deep South, often unthinkable. At one time Mississippi had fourteen abortion clinics. Now only one remains. Since the passage of  ”Roe v. Wade” more than four decades ago, the self-labeled “pro-life” movement has won significant cultural, political and legal battles.
Now, the stigma of abortion is prolific in Mississippi and women in poverty and women of color are particularly vulnerable. ”Jackson” is wrought with the racial and religious undertones of the Deep South and explores the nuanced nature of abortion in America’s Bible Belt.

ALL THIS PANIC is a feature length documentary that takes an intimate look at the interior lives of a group of teenage girls as they come of age in Brooklyn. A potent mix of vivid portraiture and vérité, we follow the girls as they navigate the ephemeral and fleeting transition between childhood and adulthood. Shot over a three-year period in a lush and cinematic style, ALL THIS PANIC is a meditation on the mysterious, often painful, yet ultimately exhilarating period of a teen’s life. ALL THIS PANIC centers on the complex transition that all young women experience in their formative teenage years, focusing on the trauma of moving from the relative protection of childhood into a more independent, less-structured future that’s theirs to embrace as more mature versions of their teen selves.

A visually compelling look behind the doors of a textile factory in India, exploring the meaning of modern day labor, exploitation and the human cost of mass production in our globalized world.
Moving through the corridors and bowels of an enormous and disorienting structure, the camera takes the viewer on a descent down to a dehumanized place of physical labor and intense hardship; a gigantic textile factory in Gujarat, India.  In his mind-provoking yet intimate portrayal, director Rahul Jain observes the life of the workers, the suffering and the environment they can hardly escape from.  Since the 1960s the area of Sachin in western India has undergone unprecedented, unregulated industrialization, exemplified in its numerous textile factories. MACHINES portrays one of these factories, provoking cause for thought about persistent pre-industrial working conditions and the huge divide between first world and developing countries.

Africa. In the wild expanses, where bushbucks, impalas, zebras, gnus and other creatures graze by the thousands, they are on holiday. German and Austrian hunting tourists drive through the bush, lie in wait, stalk their prey.
They shoot, sob with excitement and pose before the animals they have bagged. A vacation movie about killing, a movie about human nature.

ELEKTRO_SONDA is an innovative music film that features the biggest names in Polish electronica. It transports the audience into the imagination of a young boy who uses VR glasses to discover the trance-like world of electronic music, suspended between the past, the present, and the future. Over the course of his virtual journey, the protagonist encounters all the bands (KAMP!, BOKKA, Rysy, Zamilska, Komendarek, JAAA!, Polpo Motel, Golczewski). Aside from the musicians, the film also features Polish artists from the realms of theatre and contemporary dance – Dominika Knapik, Sebastian Pawlak, Paweł Sakowicz, Robert Wasiewicz. The whole project was inspired by “Sonda” – the cult TV educational program broadcast in the 1980s. The film transcends traditional genre boundaries. It is an impressionist, cinematic showcase of the contemporary Polish music scene. It is also a sort of philosophical tale about today’s pressing issues, such as the omnipresence of technology, or visions of the future in which mankind no longer takes center stage.

It’s an intimate encounter with the iconoclastic composer and musician. Rare archival footage reveals a provocative 20th century musical genius whose worldview reverberates into the present day and beyond.
Born in 1940, FRANK ZAPPA—self-taught composer, musician, bandleader, producer and independent thinker —first transcribed his avant-garde, Varèse-influenced compositions onto paper at fourteen. He only began to write lyrics in his early twenties. Nevertheless, upon the ‘66 release of his debut album, FREAK OUT! (with THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION), he swiftly became the most quotable voice of dissent in popular music. A subtle, skillful montage constructed solely from historic footage, the movie is an energetic celebration of this outspoken maestro. Zappa died far too early, in 1993, of cancer. Following Zappa from clean-shaven, besuited youth, to fearless chief freak, to his relentlessly productive final days before his death at 52, Eat That Question—Frank Zappa in His Own Words seats us right up front from the start; close enough to Zappa to read the flickering emotions in his eyes.

It fills me great joy that the film was an official selection for Sundance 2016 and has begun its international journey. On December 21, 2015, Zappa would have celebrated his 75th birthday. I find it promising that he still can be heard.”—Thorsten Schütte
